Demonstration Gardens

Marshall's #18 Schoolhouse
#18 Schoolhouse is a 19th century one-room schoolhouse located on Route 55 a few miles east of Marshall. Following a restoration of the school building and grounds, led by Master Gardener Bert Truxell, Master Gardeners now maintain perennial and annual flower beds in addition to herb and vegetable gardens. Thursday mornings from April through September, volunteers are tending to the grounds. The public is encouraged to stop by for a visit. For a history of the School House Garden, download The Story of the Garden at School House #18.
Rady Park

Master Gardeners created an arboretum at Rady Park to inform the public about alternatives to common landscape trees and shrubs. A free brochure contains a map showing  plant is locations and describes the characteristics of each. Master Gardeners maintain the plantings and make additions and changes as necessary. Rady Park is located on the northwest side of Warrenton at the end of Fauquier Road.
Extension Office Demonstration Gardens

In our Virginia Native Flower garden, there are many examples of the beautiful flowers, grasses and other perennials that grow wild here in our area. These plants were obtained from propagated sources. The 900 square foot Vegetable Demonstration Garden has seasonal vegetables and composting bins. Both gardens are maintained by Master Gardeners and members of the community. The food that is produced is shared with the needy in our community. We hope homeowners will get ideas for their own home gardens.
Please stop by to see what growing in our gardens at any season of the year.
